Emily Vinette leaves fans "Crying"

On Wednesday's result show, which aired on CTV at 7:30 p.m. on June 20, 2005, Emily said her "farewell" to Canadian Idol viewers and closed the show with a powerful performance of "Crying", which excelled over the previous night's performance and probably left many fans wondering why their favourite was going home. What happens now for Emily

In a recent phone interview published July 23 by the Ottawa Sun, Emily said "I'm 17 and I just want to go back to being a normal teenager." The interview goes on to provide the following insights to what Emily will be doing now:

Vinette and her mother flew back to the capital yesterday. The teen was hoping she might get the weekend off before returning to her job at the Rideau Centre Aldo Accessories store.

Lucky Ottawa residents might be able to catch Vinette singing Cryin' at west-end pub Puzzles this summer, where she has had much practice doing the karaoke version before auditioning for the CTV show.

She will return to Toronto later this summer to perform in the Idol finale, and has already recorded her version of Melissa Manchester's Don't Cry Out Loud for the Idol CD due out next month.

Emily contributes to Canadian Idol "High Notes" CD

Sony BMG showcases summer's biggest stars with Canadian Idol compilation CD "High Notes" released August 23. Emily sings "Don't Cry Out Loud" on track 7 of the CD.

This fan bought the CD and is not disappointed with Emily's performance of the full length version of the song. Emily's range is amazing! The lower register is strong and clear. The last note... what can I say? I believe it is what inspired the producers to title the compilation CD "High Notes" !

I probably speak for most fans when I say "Great job, Emily! We want more!"

Emily at Fairview Mall, Toronto

On Friday, August 26 the Canadian Idol Top 10 reunited in Toronto for an autograph session and performance at Fairview Mall.

This fan wasn't there, but from the photographs I've seen, Emily was absolutely radiant as usual, dressed in a cute green camouflage outfit. What a treat it must have been for fans to see their Idol perform again and to have the opportunity to meet her in person. PHOTO courtesy of Shar.

Emily on the cover of Fashion Magazine

The October issue of Fashion Magazine hit the newstands September 14, the day of Canadian Idol Season 3's finale.

Emily is positioned front and centre on the front cover, wearing an elegant, white evening gown, surrounded by other Idol's wearing black. The look is very glamourous as Emily appears more like a "diva" than a "pop princess". The camera definitely loves her!

Emily performs again on the Idol stage

On Wednesday, September 14, Canada watched Emily perform in several group medleys for the last time on the Idol stage. She had solo parts in the following songs: "To Sir With Love", "Don't Cry Out Loud", and "Good Riddance". Click here to view images and to read more about the performances.

Emily to perform at Smiles and Styles

For the 7th year running, The Commerce and Administration Student Charity Organization (CASCO) from the University of Ottawa has staged a unique and high-energy annual charity show and dinner, Smiles and Styles where every year, all proceeds from the event go to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).

There will be singing, dancing and some theatre. This year's student-choreographed broadway-style musical fashion show, "A Casco Carol" is an adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Emily will be performing throughout the evening.

The sold out charity event takes place November 28 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel (101 rue Lyon Street, Ottawa).

Christmas Benefit Concert with Emily Vinette

This year's "One Merry Night" Christmas Concert fundraiser for CHEO is booked for Friday, Dec. 9th, 8:00PM, at Dominion Chalmers United Church, Ottawa. The concert will feature Emily Vinette, Osgoode Township Male Choir, and choral ensembles from Sacred Heart High School in Stittsville.

On January 28, 2006, Emily Vinette will sing the National Anthems at the opening ceremonies for the International Big Rideau Lake Speed Skating Marathon taking place in Portland, Ontario.
